Signal Grass (Brachiaria decumbens) is the most common type of grass used in Malaysia for hydroseeding. It forms a dense and high yielding sward which responds very well to additional nitrogen besides being perennial grass with strong stoloniferous root system and long trailing stems which will readily root down from their nodes. Signal grass is highly
recommended for slope erosion control and is widely used along most of our Malaysian highways including North-South Highway.
Key features
Forms a dense, high yielding sward, tolerates heavy grazing
Has an aggressive stoloniferous root system and long trailing stems
Key benefits
Best suited to humid tropical, high rainfall regions
Tolerates high soil aluminium levels
Very persistent, including under seasonally dry conditions
Coverage area
1000gm - 32 m2
500gm - 16 m2
200gm - 6.4m2
100gm - 3.2 m2
𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭:-
1. Loosen the soil or place a layer of cocopeat on top and moisten it
2. Sprinkle seeds on the soil. Remember not to bury the seeds
3. Before germination, water on the soil twice daily
4. When seeds have germinated and starts to grow, apply fertilizer 2x weekly
